Before disputing the claim, make sure:
- A valid license covers the music used
- The correct YouTube channel is connected to the subscription or the video URL is linked to the license, to change your connected channel read more here.

How to dispute a Content ID claim (long-form videos only)
If the claim is believed to be incorrect:
- Ensure the channel or video is properly safelisted in your Epidemic Sound account
- Confirm an active subscription or valid license was in place when the video was published
To dispute the claim via YouTube Studio:
- Sign in to YouTube
- Go to Creator Studio > Video Manager > Copyright Notices
- Click the copyright icon next to the claimed video
- Select File a Dispute and follow the steps
In the dispute note, include:
- A contact email address
- Any relevant license or subscription details
Tip: Disputing within 5 days of receiving the claim ensures no loss of ad revenue if the claim is released. Disputing after 5 days may result in lost revenue for the period between the claim and the dispute.
Content ID claims on Shorts
Claims on YouTube Shorts work differently. They do not impact monetization or video availability. In fact, they can help improve visibility and discoverability for both your content and the music used.
No action is needed—there is no need to dispute claims on Shorts.
