When disputing copyright claims on long-form YouTube videos, there are a few important things to keep in mind. Here are our tips to consider:
When should a claim be disputed?
A claim should only be disputed if it was made in error and the content is properly licensed. Before disputing, ensure that:
- The channel or video is safelisted in your Epidemic Sound account
- You had an active subscription or valid license at the time of publishing
- Your use complies with the license terms
Disputes can be submitted directly in YouTube Studio. What to include in the dispute note:
- A contact email address
- Any relevant license or subscription information
When to file a dispute
File within 5 days of receiving the claim to avoid losing potential ad revenue. Disputes filed later may result in lost revenue for the days prior to filing.
What happens after submitting a dispute?
Epidemic Sound will review the claim. If it's incorrect, the claim will be released.
How to dispute claims on platforms other than YouTube
